is Fresh Start? It is a program designed to give consumers who have been denied
checking accounts a second chance to re-establish bank account privileges. A basic understanding of money is a crucial tool for people trying

- Complete the Fresh Start counseling course. (Services will be
provided by counselors from REACH, Inc., or Consumer Credit Counseling
Services and will include assessment, action plan and education.)
- Repay any outstanding debts to the bank.
- Demonstrate an ability to balance a checking account.
- Pay a $75 enrollment fee to the service provider. It will entitle
you to a copy of your credit report, an initial review, course
curriculum and a follow-up consultation.
- $75 will be applied to the homeownership counseling fee if you
choose to enter the REACH homeownership program.

After completing the program, you will be given a Certificate
of Completion to take to a participating bank. The certificate must
be presented at a bank within 30 days from the date of issuance
to open your new account. Counselors will customize the program
to fit your situation.
